Janette and Rick
Cooking has always been a part of our family tradition. Rick’s grandmother was a chef at a Basque hotel in Fresno, California where immigrant sheep hearders would stay when they arrived in the United States. There, she became known for her flavorful homemade recipes passed down through generations. One ingredient appeared in almost every dish she made — garlic.
Because we cook with a lot of garlic, Janette was constantly peeling and cleaning garlic in the kitchen. To save time, we would often keep peeled garlic in the refrigerator, but it would lose its freshness and flavor. Janette tried various methods to preserve the garlic, but nothing was superior to freshly peeled garlic. With that came the hassle of peeling it. We knew there had to be a better way to make fresh garlic preparation easier and more convenient.
After trying several tube-style garlic peelers, we thought: why not make one that works better?
The first versions were handmade using wood and rubber as we experimented with different designs and materials. We wanted something that felt simple, worked efficiently, and was easy to clean. Over time, that idea evolved into a flatter, more practical garlic peeler designed for everyday cooking.
What started as a small kitchen improvement inspired by family cooking traditions became a tool made for home cooks everywhere.
Our goal is simple: make preparing fresh garlic quicker, easier, and more enjoyable — so you can spend less time prepping and more time sharing meals with the people you love.
